Pop’s reigning princess, Rihanna, and rap’s golden boy, Drake, together on one song? It’s enough to make the musical gods smile but could it actually be happening? Yes, says Drake.
In an interview with MTV News, the rapper spilled the beans about his recent work with the Bajan pop star. “I just did this great song–I don’t know if I’m supposed to talk about that,” the rapper coyly said with a laugh before continuing. “I just did this great song with Rihanna so I hope we get to shoot a video for that too. I’m really excited about that song.”
The song would be the first time the two worked together musically. No word on whether the collaboration will appear on Rihanna’s upcoming album, LOUD, due in stores this November or on a new project for Drake.
Outside of music, the two stars share a complicated history with each other. The pair briefly dated after the highly publicized ending of Rihanna’s relationship with pop/r&b star Chris Brown. Drake famously chronicled their quickie relationship in his song Fireworks and went on a blabbing spree during the promotion of his album, Thank Me Later, saying he “was like a pawn” to the Only Girl singer.
