Remember the white guy that got arrested for robbing banks dressed as a black guy earlier this year?
Well, Conrad Zdzierak pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated robbery and five counts of robbery that will have him facing up to 35 years in prison when he is sentenced in January.
“Conrad apologizes to everyone, is sorry for any harm he has caused and accepts responsibility for his actions,” said Zdzierak’s lawyer in a statement.
Apparently this Ohio player’s mask was so convincing that the mother of one of the men initially and wrongly arrested for the crimes really thought it was her son after seeing a photo of surveillance footage on television. So much for love being blind. Then again, an Asian guy dressed as a white guy made his way onto an Air Canada flight. Guess these masks are getting too good.
Perhaps more interesting is that Zdzierak’s case was a plea deal. In exchange for pleading guilty, prosecutors dismissed 12 charges and passed on indicting him for “other” crimes. Thirty-five years isn’t exactly a slap on the wrist, but you can’t help but think that if it had turned out to be real soul brother, he would be under the jail right now.
